Background

Dr. Eberle has spent most of his adult life as a missionary in Niger, West Africa, where he met his wife and raised his three daughters. During this time, he taught part-time at the local university, developed a student center, and directed a project to support local Christian schools.

He has always appreciated the fun, challenge, and beauty of mathematics. Dr. Eberle believes mathematics has deep connections to our faith. He is especially fascinated by how the human mind understands mathematics. His research has focused on student understanding of geometry, especially how mathematical aesthetics affects that understanding and how students understand the concept of spatial infinity in geometric contexts.

He enjoys reading, writing, hiking, and games. His favorite pastime is the game of Go, which shares some of the same aesthetics as mathematics.
