Frank, a 1981 graduate of LeTourneau University’s aviation program, once spent his days flying high—literally. As a pilot and business owner, he lived a life of movement, purpose, and hands-on impact, embodying the spirit of LETU’s mission. But an unexpected stroke changed the course of his life, leaving him paralyzed and unable to return to the skies he loved.
Yet Frank’s story is far from grounded.
Now living in the peaceful mountains of northern New York, near the Canadian border, Frank and his wife Lily have built a new life—one marked by grace, humility, and unshakable faith. Frank hasn’t eaten normally in over 25 years due to medical complications. Despite this, he maintains a joyful spirit that’s deeply rooted in his relationship with Christ.
“I’ve had 30 years of fun,” Frank says with a smile. “It’s not productive to ask God why this happened to me.”
Though he can no longer live out his career, Frank is clear about his identity: “I do not need a mirror to see myself new. I have a new purpose in life.”
Lily, who serves as his primary caregiver around the clock, shares in that purpose. Their days are filled with quiet joy, faith, and the kind of love that strengthens under pressure. Even amid financial challenges caused by ongoing medical expenses, they remain confident in God’s provision.
“We have a rich Father that provides everything we need,” Lily says.
Frank’s impact reaches beyond their home. His nurses look forward to morning coffee with him, drawn not just by routine but by the warmth and humor he brings to each day. He continues to be a light to everyone around him, living proof that joy and purpose are not dependent on circumstance.
“He inspires everyone who meets him.” Lily adds.
Frank represents the heart of the LeTourneau university’s mission: to live with faith, serve with love, and walk in purpose—whether in the cockpit or from a wheelchair.
