Master of Arts in Bioethics
Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the same program Trinity International University offered? It continues that program. Dr. Michael Sleasman, who directed Trinity's bioethics degree programs, leads it, and CBHD remains its partner. The degree is now awarded by LeTourneau University. If you took bioethics courses at Trinity, ask us about transferring up to 9 credit hours.

Can I complete the whole degree online? Yes. Every course you need to finish the degree is available remotely through a mix of self-paced and live online formats. Which courses are offered online in a given year depends on the schedule, so you'll plan your course sequence with the program director.

Will a Christian bioethics degree be respected where I work? The program trains you in the full range of approaches used in bioethics today, not only your own. It is grounded in the Hippocratic tradition that medicine already recognizes and connected to CBHD, a research center known around the world. You'll learn to explain your reasoning clearly to colleagues who start from different assumptions.

I've been out of school for a long time. Can I still do this? Yes. Many bioethics students are mid-career professionals. If your undergraduate GPA falls below the standard threshold, you can submit a résumé of your work and service for the admissions committee to consider. Library staff offer research help by live chat, phone, and email, and the research and writing guides will help you get comfortable again.

How long will it take? Full-time students typically complete two to three semesters of coursework, followed by the capstone and a summer course. Part-time students set their own pace, with up to seven years to finish.
