The Solheim Recreation and Activity Center is LeTourneau University's hub for its 13 men's and women's NCAA Division III athletic teams as well as intramural sports.

Students may check out sports equipment from the equipment room free of charge, and they have full access to the Center which includes:


The Solheim Center gives access to a wide range of exercise spaces and equipment, including:

  • Strength training machines
  • Free weight and Nautilus room
  • Aerobics/Martial arts room
  • Indoor running track

Free fitness classes are available to all LETU students. Faculty, staff and guests may attend for a small fee. (Punch cards are available for purchase from the Solheim Center front desk: 1 class $3, 10 classes $30, 20 classes $50, 30 classes $70)

Available classes include (click link above for schedule):

  • Body Combat: high-energy, martial arts-inspired workout that is totally non-contact. Punch and kick your way to fitness all while having fun. No experience needed. Release stress, have a blast, and feel like a champ. Bring your best fighter attitude and leave inhibitions at the door.
  • Body Pump: the original barbell workout that will sculpt, tone, and strengthen your entire body, fast! Body Pump is one of the world's fastest ways to get in shape as it challenges all of your major muscle groups while you squat, press, lift, and curl.
  • Learn to Swing Dance: a class where you can come and learn 3 different styles of swing in the form of East Coast, Lindy Hop, and Charleston! We teach you how to combine the dances, so you can have fun swinging to the oldies, big band, and today's music! No partner required because we rotate so everyone dances with a partner. Please wear flat or tennis shoes. No heels, please! Class is from 6:30 - 7:30 pm with a Swing Dance Social immediately afterwards (7:30 - 8:30) to practice your skills.
  • Mindful Yoga: a Hatha Flow class where we'll link breath with mindful movement to start the day with a sense of energy, purpose, and intention, resulting in increased confidence and clarity that you can take off the mat and into your day. Each class incorporates breathwork and meditation and is suitable for all levels.
  • Water Aerobics: not your grandma's workout! Come get wet and get fit! This water workout includes a high intensity aerobic segment followed by strength, toning, and stretching in the water.
  • Yin Yoga: stimulates and targets connective tissues by working gently into the edge of postures, holding each for several minutes. By emphasizing actions of ligaments, bones, and joints rather than muscles, this class encourages an entirely different sort of openness. An effective practice for athletes, Yin offers a counterbalance to the effort required and tension created by high-intensity training, focusing on recovery over strain and flexibility over strength. Suitable for all levels., Yin promotes a sense of slow, deep unwinding.
