Finals week is here, and if you're feeling the pressure, you're not alone. Between late-night study sessions, back-to-back exams, and the mental marathon of wrapping up the semester, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. But here's the thing—you don't have to white-knuckle your way through it.
We know this season can be stressful, so we've pulled together some activities and experiences around Longview to help you decompress, recharge, and actually enjoy yourself before heading home for Christmas. Whether you need a study break, a change of scenery, or just a reminder that there's life beyond textbooks, we've got you covered.
Take a breath. You've made it this far, and you're going to finish strong. But first, let's talk about how to find a little joy along the way.
Explore Downtown Longview

Longview's downtown area is packed with good food, great drinks, cozy spots to relax, and plenty to do—and we want you to experience all of it before you leave for break.
Need a change of scenery for that last study push? Silver Grizzly is open until 10PM and offers a YAC discount to all LeTourneau students. When hunger hits, Deb's Downtown Cafe is right across the street. And once you've conquered your last final? Treat yourself to Wild Honey for the best local ice cream around. You've earned it.
This week on December 11th, downtown transforms for the Longview Christmas Art Walk hosted by the Longview Museum of Fine Art, with local artists, musicians, and business owners filling the streets with holiday spirit. It's the perfect chance to support local shops, enjoy live music (including performances by LeTourneau staff), and soak in some Christmas cheer before heading home.
Off the Beaten Path
If you need a break from the hustle and bustle of campus during finals—and
downtown feels a little too busy—head to Williams Lake. The walking trail and fresh air are perfect for clearing your head and hitting reset.
Yukon Coffee is right next door, so grab a jacket and treat yourself to a hot drink from another amazing local spot.
Feeling hungry? Jack's Natural Foods is right across the street and serves up incredible sandwiches and wraps that'll fuel you through your next study session (or give you the energy to actually enjoy your afternoon off).
Sometimes the best thing you can do for your brain is get outside and breathe. This is your permission slip to do exactly that.
Make Longview Home
We know that time at LeTourneau flies by, but college isn't just about acing exams or maintaining a perfect GPA. It's about finding your place—and we want Longview to feel like home for as long as you're here.
So before you pack up and head out for Christmas break, take a moment to actually experience this city. Grab coffee with friends. Walk the lake. Support a local business. Let yourself enjoy something beyond the library walls.
You've worked hard this semester! Now go find a little joy before you go home.
