Volunteer Opportunities

LeTourneau University recognizes that parents are active partners in the education process. The Parent Advisory Council (PAC) serves as a liaison between parents and the University community. Members provide ideas and feedback to the Alumni and Parent Relations team regarding programs and services that support our families.

The PAC gathers twice per year on campus (New Student Orientation in the fall and Homecoming & Family Weekend in the spring). Any father, mother or guardian of a LeTourneau University student can be considered for membership in the PAC.

For more information about joining the PAC, please contact Lauren Land. If you would like to send a note or ask a question of our PAC members, please email Thank you!

There are several avenues through which you can support LeTourneau. Proceeds go toward outreach and events for current students and families. Here are a few:

  • Kroger Community Rewards: For those of you who shop at Kroger, sign up for the Kroger Community Rewards program. It is free and easy to sign up, and you will be earning funds for LeTourneau just by grocery shopping! Our code is 84780

First Year Experience

We are dedicated to helping our new students (and families!) get the most out their LeTourneau experience. The Student Handbook is a great resource for students and families.

SWARM & New Student Orientation

Once your student has been accepted to LeTourneau, you will make plans for Summer SWARM and New Student Orientation! Summer SWARM is a Friday-Saturday event that helps jump start the LeTourneau experience. During the weekend, students will register for classes, meet professors and fellow students, see their new room, get assistance with financial aid and much more. New Student Orientation is a crucial (and fun!) part of your student's first steps into life as a college student.

Peer Advisors will join your student in Cornerstones. This course was designed just for freshman! It helps introduce students to the LeTourneau University community and encourages a holistic approach to life-long learning. Students will explore how to fulfill God's unique design for their lives. This course helps with four essentials cornerstones for life and learning: personal, intellectual, spiritual and community.

Peer Advisors

During New Student Orientation, students are introduced to their Peer Advisors, experienced student leaders who have demonstrated academic and community success. They seek to develop relationships with first-year students and help them transition to university life.

  • Q: How can I gain access to my student's academic records?
A: The university provides a downloadable Academic Information Release Form that must be completed and returned to the university before we can release educational record information to persons other than the enrolled student. Directions for completing and returning the form are included.
  • Q: Where can my student find additional academic support?
A: LeTourneau's Achievement Center exists to promote student success by providing supportive resources for students. These include mentoring, academic study labs, writing centers, peer advisors, online tutoring and more.
  • Q: What kind of activities exist on campus for my student to be involved in?
A: There are dozens of student organizations that organize and hold a variety of events throughout the school year. In addition, intramural sports are very popular. The student-led Yellow Jacket Activities Council (YAC) organizes events throughout the year including mystery bus trips, Movie Night, The Gauntlet, Extreme Bingo Night, STOMP and more.
  • Q: How can I find out who is speaking in the chapel services?
A: You can view and listen to chapel services live on the university website. The chapel schedule and times can be found on the same page. The campus pastor provides a diverse schedule each semester of visiting leaders and teachers in addition to our own faculty, staff and administration.
  • Q: Is there anyone on campus who can help my student find an internship and/or a career mentor?
A: Absolutely! LeTourneau's Career Services team can guide your student through all things career-related.

  • Q: I need to know when my student will be out of class for holidays and spring/summer break. Is there a list of those dates on the website?
A: The university's academic calendar is a great resource to find holidays and breaks as well as academic deadlines. You can also see future semesters so you can arrange any long term family plans.
  • Q: My student will be flying into a regional airport (Longview, Shreveport, Dallas). How can we arrange a ride to and from the airport?
A: A number of students fly in and out of regional airports during holidays and breaks. We highly encourage your student to talk to fellow students well in advance to arrange for transportation - usually this is not difficult to do, especially if they utilize the LETU Buzz app. Parents can also post transportation needs on the LeTourneau University Parents Group on Facebook. If your student gets into an emergency situation, be sure to contact their Residence Director.
