Jonathan Wilcoxson serves as chief of staff to LeTourneau’s seventh president, Steven D. Mason. A 2009 graduate of LeTourneau, Wilcoxson helps to maximize the President’s effectiveness by coordinating the President’s strategic priorities; providing analytical and strategic support to the President and cabinet; integrating the university’s leadership, including as a liaison with oversight and administrative bodies; and managing various presidential initiatives and communications.

Wilcoxson serves concurrently as assistant professor in the School of Theology and Vocation. He is a scholar of early Christianity, focusing on the interface of society, culture, doctrine, and daily life. His dissertation concerned the ways in which Christians in the ancient Mediterranean world used discourses about eating meat or abstaining from it to think and talk about the nature and boundaries of their Christian identities. He has also published on the emotions and the classical philosophical tradition in patristic pastoral strategies.

Wilcoxson received a bachelor’s degree from LeTourneau as a double-major in History and Biblical Studies, where he was also a member of the Honors Program. At LeTourneau, he was a Heritage Scholar, president of LeTourneau’s Student Foundation, and a member of the men’s soccer team. He earned an M.A. in Early Christian Studies from the Departments of Classics and Theology at the University of Notre Dame and will soon graduate with a Ph.D. from Notre Dame in Christianity and Judaism in Antiquity, where he was appointed a Presidential Fellow.

Wilcoxson’s wife, Kirby, an orthopedic nurse practitioner, is also a 2009 graduate of LeTourneau.
