Jessica LaRue serves as Vice President for Community Engagement and University Counsel at LeTourneau University. In this dual role, she provides legal counsel to the University while leading efforts to strengthen relationships between LeTourneau and the Longview and East Texas community through strategic partnerships, civic engagement, and intentional hospitality. She is passionate about helping connect the University's Christ-centered mission with the people, organizations, and communities it serves.
Prior to joining LeTourneau, Jessica practiced law for more than fifteen years with Harbour, Smith, Harris & Merritt, P.C. in Longview, where she represented businesses and individuals in civil litigation, business litigation, corporate and business transactions, estate and probate matters, real estate, and related legal matters. She remains of counsel with the firm.
Jessica earned her Juris Doctor from Baylor University School of Law and her Bachelor of Business Administration in Real Estate from Baylor University. She is licensed to practice law in all Texas state courts and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas and is a member of the Texas Bar Foundation.
A lifelong East Texan, Jessica has been actively involved in the Longview community for many years through volunteer service and community leadership. Her community involvement has included leadership roles with numerous organizations, including the Longview Chamber of Commerce, where she served as Chair of the Board; the Junior League of Longview, where she served as President; the Longview Museum of Fine Arts; Arts!Longview; and the Longview ISD Foundation. She also served as President of the Gregg County Bar Association and, during her tenure, helped welcome the Supreme Court of Texas to Longview to hear oral arguments at LeTourneau University. She believes that meaningful relationships and faithful service create stronger communities, and she is grateful for the opportunity to continue that work through LeTourneau by building partnerships that benefit both the University and the East Texas region.
Jessica and her husband, Alex, are active members of Oakland Heights Baptist Church, where they have served together in a variety of leadership and discipleship roles. They are the proud parents of two sons. Jessica is motivated by a desire to honor Christ through her work and to use her gifts and experience to support LeTourneau and the community she has long called home.
