SCHEDULE: Full-time, Office hours are primarily weekdays, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, but responsibilities require flexibility that can include evenings and weekends.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Support undergraduate students’ academic and co-curricular success through the Peer Advisor

Program for first year students, wellbeing and resilience programming for all students, and retention initiatives for students enrolled in on ground programs at LeTourneau University.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and lead First Year Experience (FYE) efforts, which includes the Peer Advisor (PA) program; lead in identification of PA candidates, coordinate interview process, recommend candidates for positions, and orient PAs; maintain effective ongoing communication and supervision of PAs throughout the calendar year.
  • Develop resilience and wellbeing programming and resources for students and coordinate delivery of these efforts in multiple modalities (print, digital, in person workshops, etc.).
  • Collaborate with numerous university departments to coordinate and deliver student events.
  • Lead small group opportunities for resilience skill building such as Life Groups, book clubs, etc.
  • Coordinate Student Affairs involvement in Starfish early alert efforts for traditional students. This includes efforts for 4-week and mid-term interventions, early alerts and unsatisfactory progress reports. Collaborate with Residence Life, Achievement Center, and others to effectively facilitate retention efforts; maintain SSS system and provide reports for Deans and Faculty as appropriate.
  • Coordinate and maintain Are You Returning (AYR) system. Collaborate with Student Accounts to achieve confirmation for returning students. Manage phone calls, e-mails and system data to finalize AYR reports and provide retention estimations.
  • Coordinate efforts to follow up with students who have withdrawn or not returned, prepare reports, and communicate findings to Student Success Task Force.
  • Participate in CARE Team meetings and student interventions.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess an enthusiastic and contagious Christian faith and be committed to service at a dynamic, interdenominational, evangelical Christian university where the integration of faith and academic excellence is paramount.

  • Completed bachelors degree required. Masters degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Must possess
    • highly developed interpersonal/persuasive skills necessary for dealing with sensitive, emotional, or potentially controversial interpersonal situations, which may involve multiple constituencies on various levels,
    • strong customer service skills, with a consultative approach and customer-focused, goal-oriented action,
    • multi-tasking skills and ability to function in a fast-paced environment,
    • excellent written/verbal communication skills, and
    • ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Effective communication (in various modes, including email and text) with students, faculty, staff, and senior administrators is essential, along with tact, discretion, and respect for confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in MS Word. Preferred applicants are highly self-motivated, dependable, task-oriented, detail-oriented, and people-oriented.
SALARY: Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and other qualifications.
