SCHEDULE: Full-time position primarily and secondary role M-F and some weekends. Additional hours outside M-F and flexibility that can include evenings, weekends, and overnight travel.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:

LeTourneau University offers year-round transportation for our students, including daily transit from our Longview campuses, and some summer, evening, and weekend trips.  The primary role of the candidate is as a passenger bus driver while school is in session. Secondary role as a Facilities helper during summer, semester breaks and between scheduled trips. 

Primary Role:

  • Transport students to and from the university, following a preplanned route according to a specified schedule
  • Primary trip driver for short- and long-range trips, including occasional weekend/overnight trips
  • Conduct daily safety inspections and report all findings to Fleet Services Coordinator
  • Inspect and adjust engine fluid levels and fuel the bus, in addition to other aspects of a regular maintenance schedule
  • Keep the interior and exterior of the buses clean
  • Maintain DOT-required transportation records and CDL license
  • Report any traffic violations and/or accidents to the supervisor and proper authorities
  • Safely operate buses to comply with state and local law
  • Operate buses in a manner that demonstrates Christian values
  • Assist passengers upon boarding and exiting the bus at their destination when necessary

Secondary Role:

  • Assist in routine services among facilities department, consisting of any of the following: general maintenance repairs, custodial cleaning, mechanic, and or grounds care
  • Attend/participate in safety and training meetings
  • Ability to work in a team environment
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Maintain a valid and fully unrestricted Commercial Driver’s License CDL Class “B” with Airbrake and Passenger endorsements
  • Must be 21 Years of age
  • Minimum of three (3) years of commercial driving experience
  • Good driving record with no DUI or convictions
  • Able to maintain a DOT physical
  • Ability to carry an object up to 50 pounds, bend and twist frequently, and work in inclement weather conditions
  • Will be subject to random DOT drug testing
