SCHEDULE: Office hours are weekdays, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Additional time, including
weekends, as needed.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Strategic Financial Leadership
a. Serve as the second-in-command within the Finance division, acting as CFO in
their absence
b. Collaborate with the CFO in developing and implementing financial strategies
aligned with the university’s strategic plan
c. Provide financial analysis and recommendations to senior leadership to support
decision-making
d. Participate in cross-functional teams to address university-wide financial
challenges and opportunities
Finance Operations Management
a. Manage procurement processes and vendor relationships to optimize costs and
service quality
b. Direct accounts payable operations, ensuring timely processing and compliance
with policies
c. Provide support to the Controller to ensure efficient account operations, including
financial record-keeping and reporting
d. Implement and maintain effective internal controls across all financial processes
Financial Planning and Analysis
a. Lead the annual budget development process and ongoing budget management
b. Develop multi-year financial projections to support strategic planning
c. Prepare comprehensive financial analyses for major initiatives and capital
projects
d. Monitor key financial metrics and provide regular performance reports to
leadership
Compliance and Risk Management
a. Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and university policies
b. Oversee the university’s risk management program, including insurance
coverage
c. Monitor and mitigate financial risks through appropriate controls and processes
d. Support institutional compliance with accreditation requirements
Team Leadership and Development
a. Recruit, develop and retain talented finance professionals
b. Provide mentorship and growth opportunities for team members
c. Foster a collaborative and service-oriented culture within the finance division
d. Build effective relationships with academic and administrative departments

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. BA/BS in Business or a related field, Masters Degree preferred.
  2. At least five years of work experience in various areas of Finance, preferably in higher education. At least three years of supervisory experience.
  3. Must be highly organized, systematic, and detail oriented, possessing both inductive and deductive reasoning skills.
  4. Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing in a tactful, caring manner.
  5. Personal attributes should include a love of people and the desire to assist them, patience and perseverance, the ability to work within the chain of command and support the university’s administration. One should be proactive and a self-starter. The ability to be a team player, respectful of others’ responsibilities and contributions, is essential, as well as the ability to support the consensus of the team.
