SCHEDULE:

This is a 9-month full-time, tenure-track position with a 12-credit teaching load per semester for the fall and spring semesters. Responsibilities may require flexible work hours that would include evenings, weekends, and occasional travel. Attendance is required at typical faculty and administrative meetings including graduation.

LeTourneau University seeks an innovative, dynamic, and student-focused instructor to teach Reading/Education courses on campus for the residential education program in a 9-month, full-time tenure-track faculty position. The successful candidate will be able to think creatively and critically about the essential role of education within the “Christian Polytechnic University” mission and provide leadership within the learning environment and campus culture of LeTourneau University.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach a full-time load of undergraduate reading/education courses, involving preparation of course materials and assessments
  • Supervise pre-service teachers in clinical settings
  • Participate actively in the University learning community, including committees, seminars, and department meetings
  • Connect with students through advising and success programs
  • Actively engage in retention and recruitment efforts of students
  • Maintain a commitment to academic scholarship in field of expertise
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Exhibit genuine and enthusiastic support of the LeTourneau University Faith Statement and Community Covenant (https://www.letu.edu/about/faith-statement.html)
  • Possess enthusiasm for integrating faith and learning in the classroom in a way that both educates and disciples students
  • Earned PhD or EdD in Education preferred
  • Ability to teach full range of reading/literacy and education courses
  • Display strong interest in the science of teaching reading
  • Hold valid Texas teacher certification with certification(s) in EC-6 and/or 4-8 (applicants with out-of-state teacher certification must be eligible to apply for Texas teacher certification)
  • Additional English as a Second Language and Reading Specialist certifications, as well as T-TESS Field Supervisor Training preferred
  • Capacity to communicate subject material using contemporary methods
  • Prior significant (PK-8) teaching experience
  • Have a proven ability to relate to students and faculty
  • Willingness to work co-operatively and cross-disciplinarily in teaching
