Assistant or Associate Professor of Communication

This is a 9-month full-time, tenure-track position with a 12-credit teaching load per semester for the fall and spring semesters. Classes and other responsibilities are conducted primarily on weekdays but may include some evening classes and independent studies. Attendance is required at typical faculty and administrative meetings, including graduation.

This faculty member will play a central role in leading and developing the University’s Strategic Communication and Digital Media major while also engaging students across a wide array of science & technical disciplines. The successful candidate will join the Communication program and will teach a variety of courses across the curriculum. They will contribute to ongoing program development, student mentorship, and assessment efforts while helping strengthen the visibility and impact of both the program and Humanities and Social Sciences department.

Responsibilities

• Teach a full-time load of undergraduate communication courses including our General Education “Conversation and Community” course, including preparation of course materials and assessments. Teaching responsibilities may include courses such as Public Relations Campaigns, Digital Media Storytelling, Communication and Technological Change, Mass Communication and Society, Communication Theory, Technical Writing, Intro to Speech, and other courses aligned with the candidate's expertise and program needs.
• Participate actively in the University learning community, including committees, seminars, and department meetings
• Connect with students through advising and success programs
• Actively engage in retention and recruitment efforts of students
• Maintain a commitment to academic scholarship in field of expertise

• Genuine support of LeTourneau University's Faith Statement and Community Covenant and enthusiasm for integrating faith and learning in the classroom
• An earned doctorate in Communication Studies, Mass Communication, Strategic Communication, or a closely related field preferred. ABD candidates nearing completion or master’s with significant professional experience may also be considered.
• Demonstrated commitment to integrating faith and learning in ways that educate, mentor, and disciple students.
• Professional experience in communication-related fields, including corporate, nonprofit, governmental, media, or digital communication settings, is highly desirable.
• A strong desire and enthusiasm for networking and recruiting to grow the Communication program
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• The ability to interact effectively and professionally with students, colleagues, and administrators
• The successful candidate will think creatively and critically about communication education within the mission of a Christian Polytechnic University. We are particularly interested in candidates who can envision innovative approaches to teaching effective communication, integrating emerging technologies and media platforms while maintaining a strong foundation.
