Intent to Graduate Application

Please review the the Graduation Checklist, Dates and Deadlines, the Graduation FAQ, and the Graduation Requirements before submitting the Application

All graduates, whether participating in the graduation ceremony or not, must submit the Intent to Graduate Application to the Registrar's Office. Required with the application is a $100 fee for the undergraduate program and a $150 fee for the graduate program. The fee is required of all candidates for graduation, even if you choose not to participate in the ceremony. If you do not complete all of your course requirements by the graduation date, you will not graduate and will have to reapply for graduation. To reapply, you must submit another Intent to Graduate Application to the Registrar's Office and pay the $35 reapply fee by the deadline to apply for the next graduation date.

Can I walk in the May ceremony if I plan on graduating this summer?

  • Only if you have 9 credit hours or less outstanding at the end of the spring semester. You must mark that you are a summer graduate on your application and outline a plan to complete your outstanding requirements by the end of the summer semester.

What about caps, gowns, and regalia?

  • Graduation regalia is picked up the day of graduation beginning two hours before your ceremony. It cannot be provided earlier by the university. You may keep all regalia. If you will be wearing an additional stole, please see our Regalia Policy on the Ceremony Participants page.

How can I make sure I am on track to complete my degree?

  •  Review your degree audit. It is best to consult the PDF version of your degree audit with your advisor. This can be found on the Degree Info page in MyLETU.

Will I receive my degree immediately?

  • No. Conferral is not automatic after the completion of your coursework. After all grades are entered by professors, the Registrar’s office will review and finalize each student’s degree audit. This takes about a month. Your transcript will not reflect your awarded degree until after the conferral process, but your conferral date will show as the last day of the semester. (Summer graduates will not receive a degree until the end of the summer semester.)

What if I need proof I graduated immediately?

  • If you need proof of graduation immediately after the semester ends, please contact the Registrar's Office.

What if there are outstanding hours on my degree audit?

  • If you have courses and hours outstanding on your audit, please note your plan for completing these on your application. It is recommended that you consult your advisor, if you have not already done so, for a plan of completion. Applications that do not have a listed plan but do have outstanding hours will be rejected back to the student.

What is a waived course?

  • Though courses listed as “WV” on your audit are waived, you must still meet your degree's credit hour requirement. At the time of conferral, the Registrar’s Office adds any viable hours from the unused section of your audit to make up for these waived courses. If you do not have any additional hours to make up for the waiver, you will not satisfy conferral requirements. If you have applicable hours to spare, you are set to meet the conferral requirements.

I thought I substituted a course. Why is it still blank on my audit?

  • You may find courses left blank on your audit that you believe had been substituted. If this is the case, consult with your advisor and submit a Course Substitution form to ensure your audit is correct.

What if I am transferring courses in from another university taken during my last semester?

  • If you are planning on transferring courses into LeTourneau to complete your degree requirements, it is your responsibility to ensure the course will transfer by completing the Transfer Credit Approval form. The course must be taken within LETU's Spring semester. Additionally, the official transcript needs to be received by the Registrar’s Office no later than 30 days after LETU's Spring semester ends.

What about CLEP?

  • CLEP exams must be taken no later than the end of LETU's Spring semester, with the official scores being received no later than 30 days after LETU's Spring semester ends.

What are incomplete courses?

  • Many students receive incompletes (I) for courses. These courses must be changed by the professor to a letter grade. Otherwise, the course will automatically be given an “F”. Any incompletes given for the Spring 2024 semester will need to be changed no later than 30 days after LETU's Spring semester ends to meet graduation qualifications.

Do I have to pay the graduation fee even if I am not walking in the ceremony?

  • Per the catalog, the graduation fee is a required fee for all students regardless of ceremony participation status. Your application will not be processed until this fee has been paid. The fee is as follows:
    • Undergraduate Applicants: $100
    • Graduate Applicants: $150
    • Reapplicants from another year: $35

What happens if I don't pay my outstanding fees, fines, or tuition?

  • Students who do not pay outstanding fees, including parking tickets and library fines, or have an outstanding balance regarding tuition will not receive their diploma and are ineligible to order official transcripts or other proof of graduation. All fines and fees must be paid by May 1st.

What if I need special accommodations for the ceremony, such as mobility, hearing, or vision issues?

  • Graduates who need special accommodations for the ceremony need to contact the Provost's Office (officeoftheprovost@letu.edu) by April 15th. Ceremony guests who need special accommodations need to fill out the Accessible Seating Request on the Families and Guests page.

Can my friends and family watch the ceremony online?

If I live in the dorms, when do I have to move out?

  • The move out deadline for graduates is 5pm the day of the ceremony. Talk to your RA about scheduling a checkout time.

Will the Café be open?

  • The last meal served at the Café will be dinner on the Thursday of finals week. It will not be open on the day of the ceremony.

Can mail from my CPO be forwarded to a new address?

  • Yes, please visit the Mail Center by May 1st to set up mail forwarding.

Do I qualify for Graduation Honors?

  • Recipients of a bachelor’s degree who have a total GPA of 3.40 or higher and have earned a minimum of 60 credit hours taken in courses at LETU may qualify for graduation honors for outstanding scholarship and merit. Graduation honors will be determined by considering the total GPA of all course work attempted at the University. Any courses with grades that have been repeated or replaced will be included in the calculation of the cumulative GPA.
  • Three possible distinctions may be awarded:
    • Cum Laude is awarded to students who achieve a full cumulative GPA of all course work attempted at LETU of between 3.40 and 3.59, inclusive.
    • Magna Cum Laude is awarded to students who achieve a full cumulative GPA of all course work attempted at LETU of between 3.60 and 3.79, inclusive.
