When Monica Skibicki first took the controls of an airplane during her private pilot course at LeTourneau University, she knew she had found where she belonged. "The first time I felt the airplane lift off the ground I knew that in the air is where I am meant to be," she wrote in a recent letter to one of LeTourneau's scholarship supporters.
Today, Monica is pursuing her commercial multi-engine rating while also training to become an aircraft and powerplant mechanic. It's an ambitious path—one that requires additional coursework, lab fees, and flight training—but thanks to donor support, she has been able to continue pursuing the calling God has placed on her life.
"I have been able to pursue my dream of flying with alleviated stress from finances," Monica shared. "I have surrendered my fears and anxieties about my debt to God and He has provided every step of the way."
As the daughter of Polish immigrants, Monica understands the sacrifices that made her opportunities possible. Reflecting on her family's journey, she wrote:
"My parents blessed me with a life in America so that I can build a career that they could have only dreamed of. They gave me my wings but it is up to me to fly."
For Monica, donor generosity is about far more than financial assistance. It is an investment in a student's future, a family's dream, and God's work in the lives of those He has called.
"I believe that you are part of God's plan for me and I am so happy that I have you as part of my journey."
Stories like Monica's remind us that every scholarship and every gift does more than help cover the cost of tuition or specialized training. It opens doors to opportunity, strengthens students' confidence in God's calling, and equips the next generation to use their gifts in service to Christ and the world.
Thank you for investing in students like Monica. Your generosity is helping dreams take flight—one life at a time.
