Celebrating The Class of 2026

LeTourneau University celebrated the Class of 2026 on Saturday, May 9, with two commencement ceremonies at the Belcher Center on its Longview campus. Graduates from seven schools and colleges crossed the stage before LETU President Dr. Steven D. Mason, faculty, staff, family, and friends.
Eyes Fixed on Christ
The commencement address was delivered by Amy Davis, a LETU alumna and University of Texas School of Law graduate who serves as general counsel and vice president at Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union. A competitive skydiver, Davis drew on canopy flight as an extended metaphor — explaining that to land safely, skydivers must resist staring at the ground and instead lift their eyes to the horizon.
"When I learned this the first time, I immediately thought of the Apostle Peter, who walked on the water — but he was only able to do so as long as his eyes were fixed fully on Jesus Christ," Davis told graduates. "How much more in every area of our lives would we be better able to accomplish God's best for us and to serve the Kingdom if we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus Christ?"
Davis offered graduates a series of charges for life beyond LETU: "Do excellent work, even when no one is watching. Don't get burned out. Be scrupulously honest. Be kind — because it is so much harder to be kind than it is to be cruel."
She also urged graduates to resist division. "There is no 'us versus them' in God's eyes," she said. "There is only humanity, created in God's image, whom He loved so much He sent His Son to die for. Listen to those you may disagree with. Continue to learn. Do not give in to the divisive spirit of this age — but rather speak truth in everything you do."
She closed with the image of a skydiver in the open door of the aircraft. "Graduating Class of 2026, you are about to leave this place of training and equipping and the relative safety of LeTourneau University, and you will go out to be salt and light in the world," she said. "You have a great big, beautiful door in front of you. I am so excited for you. I hope you fly."
