LeTourneau University’s Air Dome project is a 120,000-square-foot facility that will create a premier indoor track and field facility, suitable for hosting major regional and national meets, as well as a variety of other spaces for athletics, academics, and recreation. The project is targeted for completion in 2026, and the dome itself should be attached and inflated within a matter of weeks.
The above aerial photo shows progress of the internal structure of the Air Dome. At the top center is the main entrance and atrium, with classroom space and a training room to the left; and office spaces, locker rooms and team room to the right. Below those spaces, the curved hydraulic pit for one end of the banked track has been poured (so has the other end, it's just out of frame). Preparations are underway for the rest of the main structure's floor to be poured soon.
Brad Bowser has been named Assistant Director of Athletics for the Athletic and Human Performance Air Dome and Athletic Operations. Bowser has a history at LeTourneau, having served as head softball coach for the 2007-08 season, as well as experience as the director of a similar facility at Taylor University. His role will focus on oversight of the Air Dome, and he looks forward to using it to serve the LeTourneau University community and provide hospitality and excellence to other groups that will visit and use it.
