SCHEDULE: This is a 10-month appointment. Office hours are primarily weekdays, but responsibilities require additional hours and flexibility that can include evenings and weekends.

LeTourneau University is seeking a part-time enthusiastic Assistant Athletic Trainer. Applicant must hold a master’s degree in the area of athletic training and be NATABOC certified athletic trainer or state of Texas certified.  LETU is a private, Christian, NCAA DIII institution and competes in the American Southwest Conference.


Duties include but are not limited to:

  • The primary responsibilities of this position are preventing, assessing, treating, managing, and rehabilitating athletic injuries and conditions affecting student-athletes.
  • This position will also provide administration of daily treatments and reconditioning programs for student-athletes and assist where needed in other sports.
  • Providing coverage during practices and events, including evening and weekend events.
  • Consulting with coaches regarding conditioning, nutrition, and safety of athletes.
  • Primary sports assignments: Men’s soccer, men’s and women’s tennis, and softball.
  • Attendance at all practices and meetings is required.

 Desirable Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills

  • Allied health skills dealing with care and prevention of injuries/conditions occurring to student-athletes.
  • Ability to provide proper rehabilitation techniques in dealing with athletic injuries.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to work practices on the field and court is required.
  • The ability to work extended hours outdoors in varying weather conditions is required.
  • Physical demands are moderate to high based on practice and requirements.
  • Standing, walking, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 60 lbs. regularly are common.
  • Job includes considerable travel during the week and weekends throughout the season.
  • Early morning, evening and late-night hours are common to the position.
  • NATABOC certified or state of Texas certified
  • Master’s degree in athletic training
  • The selected candidate must successfully pass a background check.
