SCHEDULE: The position is year-round with the exception of scheduled vacation and paid holidays. Responsibilities are conducted primarily weekdays but may require additional hours and flexibility that include some evenings and weekends.

The successful candidate for the position will: 

1.    Manage all university flight operations including the flight lab registration and scheduling process, student flight lab enrollment, and daily flight operations.

2.    Manage the university’s flight training activities, including planning and coordination of all flight instruction, TSA requirements, stage checks, and check rides.

3.    Administer flight operations and dispatch software.

4.    Manage flight dispatch operations and related support staff, recruiting, training, scheduling and supervising student dispatchers.

5.    Assist with manual revisions and updates.

6.    In consultation with the Chief Instructor and Department Chair, set organizational goals and provide leadership necessary to accomplish goals.

7.    Work with the Director of Maintenance regarding resource acquisition and disposal, continued aircraft maintenance coordination, resource locations, GPS software updates, and maintenance scheduling.

8.    Work with the Director of Maintenance regarding fuel installation requirements and fueling supervision.

9.    Manage relationships with key aviation employers within the aviation industry.


LeTourneau University operates a flight training program as part of its Aeronautical Science Bachelor’s Program under CFR part 141 and 61. Minimum professional qualifications are:

·         Demonstrated leadership and operational experience within aviation operations

·         A self-starter, ability to perform without intense supervision and guidance, yet able to work with others in a team effort.

·         Proficiency with computer software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and ability to learn new computer programs

·         Prior aviation experience

·         Attention to detail.

·         Working knowledge of aviation terminology, weather reports and forecasts, and flight training practices

·         Ability to work effectively in a team relationship with flight instructor staff, College of Aviation and Aeronautical Science faculty, and within the community of LeTourneau University

·         Ability to act using discretion on issues of significance within the flight training program

·         Ability to relate to students and serve in a mentorship role 

Desirable professional qualifications and experience:

·         Bachelor’s degree

·         Ability to establish contacts within the professional aviation community which benefit students through cooperative work programs, internships, and job opportunities

·         Aircraft dispatcher

·         Private pilot
