SCHEDULE: The Director of Health Services is a part-time position (approximately 25-30 hours per week).


  • Assess student health needs and provide treatment. (Make room visits if a student is too ill to come to Health Services.)
  • Assist with referrals and access to physicians and the emergency room as needed.
  • Provide necessary follow-up on students with more serious illnesses or injuries.
  • Respond to emergency calls when on campus.
  • Identify and implement a proactive program for preventive health on campus.
  • Publish the Office of Health Services hours to the campus community.
  • Maintain medical and immunization records on each student.
  • Ensure cooperation between the Health Services personnel and the athletic training room personnel.
  • Communicate, within the guidelines of confidentiality, illness and students’ physical needs to the Residence Hall Directors and Vice President for Student Affairs in a timely manner and to faculty, staff persons, and parents when appropriate.
  • Attend Student Life regularly scheduled staff meetings.
  • Establish check-in and treatment charts for record keeping and reports.
  • Provide leadership in coordinating multiple blood drives each year, and a campus health fair.
  • Maintain a current directory of physician specialists and reliable health care facilities for the purpose of referral as needed.
  • Maintain membership in Texas State Nursing Association.
  • Develop budget requests and written narrative when requested. Review and approve departmental expenditures.
  • Plan and direct in-service training programs and be qualified to teach CPR and First Aid for Residence Life and other faculty/staff.
  • Accept additional responsibilities as directed by the Vice President for Student Affairs.
  • Provide written reports on the services provided and trends for assessment and accountability purposes.


  • Will assure that the medical needs of all LeTourneau University students will be cared for as soon as their need is brought to the attention of the Health Center.
  • Will assure the annual budget assigned to the Director of the Health Center be managed within the defined constraints as approved by the Cabinet and Board of Trustees.
  • Will assure all reports are submitted on a timely basis.
  • Will assure the Vice President for Student Affairs that all other duties will be fulfilled in the area of health care for our students as requested.

  • Education: BS/RN graduate from accredited School of Nursing with current licensure with the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas to practice professional nursing (R.N.)
  • Current instructor certification for CPR/ AED/ FA
  • Documented experience in the practice of nursing
  • Health education and prevention experience encouraged
  • Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills relevant to students, staff and faculty.
  • Ability to speak publicly in an effective manner.
  • Commitment to helping students find their roles in Christ’s kingdom
