REPORTS TO: Dean, College of Aviation
  • Assure that the school’s aircraft are safe, legal, and in good operating condition for all flight operations.
  • Work closely with the school’s Director of Flight Operations to maximize aircraft availability.
  • Oversee all aircraft records assuring that they comply with appropriate regulations and utilize best practices.
  • Oversee the maintenance and support of the school’s aviation fuel farm.
  • Manage the school’s spare parts inventory to maximize operational efficiency.
  • Provide appropriate training to new employees assuring that all aircraft are safe, legal, and in good operational condition.
  • Work with the school safety manager to enhance the safety of maintenance operations.
  • Work with the school safety manager when new policies and procedures are developed to assure that they are conceived, communicated, and implemented to maximize safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean
  • A & P certification
  • Inspection Authorization
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field
  • Five years of experience in a leadership role in aircraft maintenance
  • Familiarity with computerized avionics systems and electronic databases
  • Ability to make significant safety and airworthiness decisions based on technical expertise and a working knowledge of applicable Federal Aviation Regulations
  • Proficiency with computerized recordkeeping systems and internet-based Work Order and Parts tracking systems
  • Ability to relate to and work with students at all levels of ability
