SCHEDULE: Office hours are primarily weekdays, but responsibilities require additional hours and flexibility, including many evenings and weekends.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Assistant Baseball Coach is responsible to the Head Baseball Coach and Director of Athletics for the organization, supervision, coaching, and recruiting of all aspects of a Division III baseball program that upholds LeTourneau University philosophy and objectives. 

Essential Function - Assist the Head Baseball Coach with: 

  • Providing leadership and instruction in the academic, athletic, and personal development of student-athletes at LeTourneau University.
  • Ensuring compliance with the University, Conference, and NCAA policies and regulations.
  • Recruiting and retaining highly skilled student-athletes for the baseball team consistent with the LETU philosophy and standards.
  • Assisting in scheduling, planning, and management of home and away baseball contests.
  • Assisting in creating and providing documents, reports, and information required for the baseball program and department functions.
  • Assisting in monitoring the academic progress of members of the baseball team.
  • Assisting in skill training, practice organization, and recruiting for baseball.
  • Representing LeTourneau University in public relations and marketing activities that promote the baseball program and community relations.
  • Performing other duties as requested by the Head Coach and the Director of Athletics

 Desirable Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills: 

  • Ability to utilize information technology and display computer skills.
  • Skill in communicating effectively in oral, written, and electronic means.
  • Knowledge of NCAA and Conference regulations and guidelines.
  • Ability to effectively counsel student-athletes on requirements for personal, academic, and athletic participation.
  • Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with employees, other agencies, and the public.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Skill in public relations that build, support, and promote the program to the internal and external community.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of a particular baseball skill, if not several. Ability to effectively teach the game of baseball.Ability to throw batting practice.Skill to recruit and retain highly skilled student-athletes in the sport of baseball.


  • The ability to conduct practices on the court is required.  The ability to work extended hours outdoors in varying weather conditions is required.  Physical demands are moderate to high based upon method and requirements.  Standing, walking, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 60 lbs. regularly are common.  Job includes considerable travel during the week and weekends throughout the season.  Early morning, evening, and late-night hours are typical to the position.
