Office hours are primarily weekdays, but responsibilities may occasionally require additional hours and flexibility that can include evenings and weekends.

  • Meet informational and meta-literacy needs of faculty, staff, residential, and global students.
  • Oversee circulation services, faculty reserves, Interlibrary Loan, serials, and technical services.
  • Supervise, schedule, and coordinate student workers, including hiring, training, assigning work, and evaluating performance.
  • Initiate employee payroll documents.
  • Provide and manage library reference services.
  • Maintain shelving system according to Library of Congress classification.
  • Manage library information systems.
  • Generate and analyze statistics on the use of facilities and collections. Provide data for reports and analyses related to collections development and maintenance as required by university offices and external agencies, including accreditation bodies.
  • Prepare regular deposits of funds collected by the department.
  • Maintain inventory, purchase, and distribution of office supplies.
  • Maintain library administration files, library calendar, and distribution of mail.
  • Assist with the university archives and RG LeTourneau Museum.
  • Work with library staff to enhance services and improve the perception of library quality for all patrons.
  • Stay current on library trends through library literature, social media, and other professional sources.
  • Other tasks as assigned. 
  • The person frequently communicates with students, faculty, staff, and community members and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • The person operates computers and other productivity equipment and machinery.
  • The person must be able to evaluate digital, print, and archive material, including those in various font types and sizes.
  • The person frequently moves audiovisual and library equipment and books weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher is required. Master of Library Science (MLS/MLIS) is preferred.
  • The ability to establish goals, priorities, and operations that best meet the needs of the university community the library serves.
  • The ability to work effectively, both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Relevant professional experience including successful management/supervisory experience.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Strong computer-based skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office, e-mail, web searching, and basic computer troubleshooting.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability to work with students from a wide range of cultural, linguistic, and academic backgrounds.
