SCHEDULE:

Office hours are primarily weekdays, but responsibilities may require additional hours and flexibility that can include evenings and weekends. The position is for nine months. Classes and other responsibilities are conducted primarily weekdays, but could include some evening classes and independent studies. Attendance will also be required at some evening and weekend events.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
  • Teach a full-time load of chemistry courses, involving preparation of course materials and assessments.
  • Conduct laboratory instruction conforming to best practices, including those for safety.
  • Participate actively in the University learning community, including committees, seminars, and department meetings.
  • Participate in student success programs.
  • Maintain a commitment to academic scholarship in field of expertise.
  • Opportunities are available to do research with undergraduate students.
QUALIFICATIONS:

LeTourneau University seeks a person with an enthusiastic and contagious Christian faith who is committed to Christian higher education that integrates Christian faith with learning.

  • Earned doctorate or master’s degree in chemistry, with expertise in analytical chemistry.
  • Demonstrated teaching competencies must include the ability to design and teach analytical chemistry, as well as freshman-level chemistry courses.
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively and professionally interact with students, colleagues and administrators in a university learning community.
  • Experience and skills in chemistry research transferable to research that will involve undergraduate students.
