SCHEDULE:

This is a 9-month full-time, tenure-track position with a 4-course teaching load per semester. Responsibilities may require flexible work hours that would include evenings, weekends, and occasional travel. Attendance is required at typical faculty and administrative meetings and events.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach a full-time load of undergraduate English courses, involving preparation of course materials and assessments
  • Participate actively in the University learning community, including committees, seminars, and department meetings
  • Participate in student advising and success programs
  • Maintain a commitment to academic scholarship in field of expertise
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • An enthusiastic and contagious Christian faith committed to Christian higher education that integrates Christian faith with learning in a way that both educates and disciples students, and enthusiastically supports the LeTourneau University Faith Statement and Community Covenant (https://www.letu.edu/about/faith-statement.html)
  • PhD in English or Humanities preferred. Ability to teach full range of composition courses as well as Medieval literature. Candidates with a strong interest in the literature, language, and culture of the Western Tradition encouraged to apply
  • The successful candidate will be able to think creatively and critically about the essential role of the humanities (and writing, in particular) within the “Christian Polytechnic University” mission and provide leadership for efforts to fully infuse the humanities within the learning environment and campus culture of LeTourneau University. This includes developing communication and analytical skills in students majoring in technical fields such as engineering, aviation, computer science, etc.
  • Willingness to work co-operatively and cross-disciplinarily in teaching
  • Candidate will be in a humanities department that features a new Liberal Arts Guild curriculum, which encourages undergraduates to study how the core disciplines for the liberal arts build upon and relate to one another (https://www.letu.edu/academics/arts-and-sciences/the-guild.html)
