The position is for nine months, with the possibility of summer school teaching. Classes and other responsibilities are conducted primarily on weekdays but include evening classes and independent studies. Attendance is required at some evening and weekend events.

This position is a tenure-track position with rank negotiable based on experience. Preferred areas of expertise include those that support nursing and health science, pre-medical and pre-allied health professions, biomedical sciences, and general biology majors. Proficiency in any of the biological sciences will be considered, however. Research and teaching experience are highly desired.


The ideal candidate would provide teaching in Biochemistry, Genetics, Bioinformatics, Immunology, and other courses in the Biology curriculum. Yet, individuals who fall beyond those parameters should not be discouraged from applying. The ideal candidate will:

  • Teach freshman to senior level Biology courses
  • Oversee laboratory instruction conforming to best practices, including those for safety and protection of human health
  • Use and maintain currency with appropriate instructional technology
  • Represent the Department of Biology as the pre-med/pre-health coordinator and advisor and stay current on graduate admissions and entrance requirements for medical and allied health fields
  • Participate in the University learning community by serving on department, school, and/or university committees and special service assignments
  • Participate in student advising, success, and retention programs
  • Maintain a commitment to academic scholarship in the field of expertise
  • Teach and conduct research collaboratively within the department

LeTourneau University seeks a person with an enthusiastic and contagious Christian faith who is committed to Christian higher education that integrates Christian faith with learning. A doctoral degree in a discipline of the life sciences is required. Applicants must possess a strong interest and commitment to teaching and advise at the undergraduate level including advising students of pre-health professions.  The successful candidate must have a proven ability to relate to students and must be able to communicate subject material using contemporary methods.
