POSITION DESCRIPTION:

LeTourneau University invites applications from exceptionally qualified candidates for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in the School of Nursing at either the assistant or associate professor level. LeTourneau is a vibrant and growing interdenominational, evangelical Christian university, known for high-quality academic programs that attract students of outstanding ability. The university is approved by the Texas Board of Nursing to offer the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). LeTourneau’s BSN program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street, NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 2001, 202-887-6791.

 

The School of Nursing will graduate highly-skilled, progressive-thinking nurses who will carry the mission of LeTourneau as they go out to claim Christ in “every workplace, every nation.” The candidate must also be in genuine agreement with the University’s Statement of Faith and Community Covenant for life and work at LeTourneau (link).

Responsibilities

Successful candidates for this full-time, tenure-track position will:

 

  • Teach a full time course load of nursing classes which will involve preparation of course materials, delivery of content, and evaluation of student learning, in the areas of health assessment, medical surgical/critical care, pediatrics, and/or women’s health nursing
  • Teach both classroom and clinical courses, which may require working evenings, nights, and weekends
  • Use conceptual, learning-based teaching strategies
  • Participate in university activities, committees, and seminars as well as departmental meetings/activities
  • Advise and mentor students
  • Engage in retention and recruiting efforts for the School of Nursing
QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must hold an earned MSN with at least 12 graduate level credit hours of nursing education courses. Applicants with a doctorate or in the later stages of earning a doctorate degree in nursing are preferred. Applicants must be licensed or eligible for licensing in the state of Texas. Ideal candidates will have university-level academic experience in a school of nursing with a successful record of teaching in nursing and possess a strong commitment to Christian higher education and program building. Other qualifications for ideal candidates include the following:

 

  • An enthusiastic Christian faith with a commitment to Christian higher education that integrates Christian faith and learning
  • Interest and experience in curriculum and program development
  • A strong interest and commitment to teaching and advising at the undergraduate level
  • Ability to relate to students and to communicate subject material using innovative approaches and technologies
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends as necessary
