LETU President Honored with Longview Chamber's Top Award

LeTourneau University President Dr. Dale A. Lunsford was recognized for his community leadership Tuesday night when he was presented with the Chairman's Award at the Longview Chamber of Commerce annual banquet before a crowd of about 500 people in Maude Cobb Convention Center.

The Chairman's Award is presented annually to a person who demonstrates dedication and vision for the Longview community.

Lunsford has been active for the past several years promoting the growth and prosperity of Longview through volunteer leadership service. He has led a citizen's task force to make improvements to the entrance corridor from Interstate-20 into the city, to ensure that visitors to the city don't get the "wrong view" of Longview and was involved in leading fact-finding trips to other cities to help spur creativity and positive thinking for improvements to consider for the city. He also has served on a committee to draft a long-term comprehensive plan to be used as a road map for the city's future.
