LETU Engineering Professor Yoni Adonyi To Be Honored by Alma Mater

LeTourneau University engineering professor Dr. Yoni Adonyi will be among 14 outstanding Ohio State University alumni honored at the 16th Annual Excellence in Engineering & Architecture Alumni Awards Oct. 18.
Each year, the Ohio State University College of Engineering honors distinguished alumni for extraordinary personal achievements, remarkable contributions to the field of engineering (or architecture) or outstanding service to the college.
Adonyi, who earned his master's and doctoral degrees in welding engineering in 1986 and 1989, respectively, from the Ohio State University, will receive the Distinguished Alumni Award in honor of his outstanding professional achievement in engineering. Adonyi is noted for increasing enrollment threefold in the past 15 years at the LETU materials joining engineering program and has brought in $6 million in outside research and development funding and equipment. Adonyi is the Omer Blodgett Endowed Chair of Welding and Materials Joining Engineering at LeTourneau University, where he not only transformed the undergraduate materials joining degree program, he was instrumental in introducing a master's in engineering degree program.
Adonyi has published in professional journals on the subject of contrasting university engineering education versus mere training, accreditation vs. certification, and teaching vs. research from his nearly two decades of teaching and coordinating the welding/materials joining program at LETU's School of Engineering.
