LETU to Host Engineer Week Banquet Feb. 21, Showcase Engineering Projects

In celebration of National Engineers Week Feb. 19-25, LeTourneau University will host about 100 local professional engineers as well as about 100 engineering students and faculty from area high schools and colleges to attend the E-Week Banquet Tuesday, Feb. 21, in the Solheim Arena.

Registration begins at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. Cost is $15 for engineers and their guests who pre-register, or $20 at the door. Students and faculty may attend free of charge. Engineers interested in attending should send their registration in before Feb. 14.
The theme for the E-Week banquet is "Legacy of LeTourneau" and will feature speakers discussing the historical accomplishments of R.G. LeTourneau, the current engineering projects at LeTourneau University and products from LeTourneau Technologies. The banquet has been held in the East Texas area since 1960. The group provides scholarships to area students planning to pursue a degree in engineering.

E-week is a national event celebrating the engineering profession. At this year's event, senior engineering projects will be featured including the VERT wind turbine project, the Frontier wheelchairs project and several others.

"We welcome the opportunity to host this year's E-Week banquet at LeTourneau University," said LETU Dean of Engineering Dr. Ron DeLap. "Our world-class engineering program is a direct result of R.G. LeTourneau's love for engineering, and his dedication to improving our world through the engineering profession. It is a privilege to carry on his vision as we seek to claim every workplace in every nation for Christ."
