LETU to Feature Business Leadership Expert Dr. Jim Laub


LeTourneau University's School of Business is hosting organizational leadership expert Dr. Jim Laub as keynote speaker for its second annual "Business through the Eyes of Faith" initiative which hosts a free public forum on the application of biblical principles in the workplace.

Laub will speak about "Building Healthy Organizations" during the free event from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, in the Education Building Lecture Hall Room 117-120 on the Longview campus, 2100 S. Mobberly Ave. He will share key aspects that business leaders need to consider to develop healthy organizations, reduce turnover, provide sustainable growth and have a positive effect on an organization's bottom line. He will discuss why some organizations are strong and thriving while others are weak or even toxic places to work. Laub notes that a healthy organization is one that fulfills its mission while strengthening its employees. It develops people while increasing its capacity for change and new vision.

Laub is president of the OLAgroup and is the creator of the Organizational Leadership Assessment (OLA) which measures organizational health from a servant leadership perspective and the OLA360 employee review. He also is dean of the MacArthur School of Leadership at Palm Beach Atlantic University and a professor of leadership studies.

The public is also invited to hear Laub speak to students, faculty and staff about servant leadership from a Christian perspective at 3:30 in education lecture hall Monday, April 18. This session, titled "Leadership that Moves the World," is a session that will look at God's design for and the critical role of leadership in creating change and how the unique power of servant leadership exponentially grows the potential for moving the world in a positive way. This session will explore the concept of the Servant Organization and how this different way of leading, this dynamic way of working together, creates healthy and successful organizations.

Laub received his doctorate in Educational Leadership: Adult Education from Florida Atlantic University. His dissertation and ongoing research has focused on the critical topic of servant leadership and organizational health. He is a facilitator, a trainer, a speaker and a tool-maker for organizational effectiveness. Laub has provided training nationally and internationally in the Netherlands, Dominican Republic, Mexico. Singapore and Ecuador. He grew up in Florida where he met, and married, his wife Barbara. They currently live in Stuart, Florida. His two daughters are married and living with their husbands in Tallahassee, Florida, and Austin, Texas.
