LETU Students Awarded Scholarships from American Welding Society Foundation

The American Welding Society Foundation has awarded two LeTourneau University students prestigious National Scholarships for the 2009-2010 school year. The recipients include Quarryville, Penn., senior Kenneth Bean, Jr., who received the Donald and Shirley Hastings Scholarship, and Lone Pine, Calif., sophomore Reuben Brooks, who received the Matsuo Bridge Company Ltd. of Japan Scholarship. Both students are Materials Joining Engineering Technology majors.
In its commitment to improve America's productivity, the AWS Foundation provides funding assistance to help students wishing to pursue vocational school, community college or a degree program in welding or a related field of study.
The Donald and Shirley Hastings Scholarship is a $2,500 scholarship awarded to an undergraduate student pursuing a minimum four-year bachelor's degree in welding engineering or welding engineering technology while maintaining at least a 2.5 overall grade point average.
The Matsuo Bridge Company Ltd. of Japan Scholarship is a $2,500 scholarship awarded to a college junior or senior, or graduate student pursuing a minimum four-year degree in civil engineering, welding engineering, welding engineering technology or a related discipline while maintaining a minimum 3.0 overall grade point average.
