LETU Men Stay Perfect On The Road In ASC Play


LETU men's basketball team stay perfect on the road in ASC play with a come from behind win against the University of the Ozarks on Thursday night. The 80-70 victory improves the Yellow Jackets record to 10-4 overall, and 8-1 in conference play.
Both teams exchanged scoring runs in the first twenty minutes. The University of the Ozarks came out ready to play as they went up 29-14 with more than eight minutes to go in the first half. Even though, LeTourneau mounted a 14-5 run to end the first half they still found themselves down 34-30 going into intermission.
LETU, who hadn't led since the first thirty seconds of play, regained the lead at 42-41 off a Dale Vanwright jumper within the first six minutes of the second half. They extended their lead to as many as 7 before the University of the Ozarks provided a small run bringing the game to 52-49 with 6:37 on the clock. But the Jackets proved to be to much as they took control of the game with a 9-2 run to provide a thrilling ending.
LETU had four players collect double digits in scoring with senior Dewones Smith pacing the attack with 19 points. Vanwright and JJ Rockmore both contributed 17 points a piece and Dusty Evers hit 14 points for Yellow Jackets.
The men will head to Richardson, TX, to face UT-Dallas on Saturday at 3 p.m.
