FAQ - Traditional Student Graduation

What do I need to do in order to graduate?

Return the "Application of Intent to Graduate" form to the Registrar's Office. You should receive this via email if you are set to graduate at the next graduation date. If you have not received an "Application of Intent to Graduate" form and you want to graduate at the next graduation date, please contact the Registrar's Office.

When is the deadline to file for graduation?

Fall - October 1 or if it is on a weekend, the Monday after.
Spring & Summer - February 1 or if it is on a weekend, the Monday after.

Do I still have to pay the graduation fee if I am not participating in the ceremony?

Yes, this is the fee established by the university for all graduates.

I will have completed all but 6 hours by the graduation date. Can I still graduate?

No. All hours must be complete by the day of graduation. By special permission, a student may be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony with a maximum of six semester hours outstanding to be transferred back and applied toward graduation requirements. Summer graduates may participate in the May graduation ceremony.

I graduated several months ago and I still have not received my diploma.

The Registrar's Office cannot send out your diploma if all your course work is not complete or if you have a hold on your account. Make sure all your transcripts from other schools have been sent to LeTourneau within one month of the graduation date and your student account is clear.

When can I expect to receive my diploma?

If your course work is completed by the day of the graduation ceremony and the Registrar's Office has all your records and verifies you are complete, you will receive your diploma after the ceremony, unless you have a hold on your student account. Otherwise, your diploma will be mailed when your coursework is complete and your student account is clear.

Does my diploma indicate what honors I will receive?

LeTourneau University does not list academic honor levels on diplomas.

Are the cap & gown included in the fee or is there another fee?

The fee covers the cap and gown.

Is it possible to walk in the graduation ceremony even though my coursework is not completed during the required semester?

This must be approved by the Provost.

What if I apply to graduate and do not finish my required coursework?

You must re-apply to graduate before the next application deadline and pay an additional fee of $35.

How long do I have to complete my work when I leave LETU and graduate under the catalog which I entered?

Work must be completed within one year of departure. If you do not complete the work within one year, you are required to finish under the most current catalog unless you get approval from the Provost to graduate under the previous catalog.
