The information on this page relates to an accelerated degree offered online and in person at our Longview Campus and Houston Educational Center. To view equivalent non-accelerated degree options at our main Longview campus, choose EC-6th grade or 4th-8th grade certification.

In order to fulfill the Field Experience component of Texas Teaching Certification, a student must complete either Student Teaching or Internship.

Student Teaching

As part of the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies degree requirements, all students must complete 6 credit hours of student teaching. Student teaching is 13 weeks of full time/unpaid time spent with a mentor teacher in a classroom. Substitutions for student teaching must be approved by an academic committee.
