Answer the questions to the right

Base your answers on the passage

1. Where was Jesus? Look up the location on a map.

2. Why did the woman want to see Jesus? How was she different from other people who came to Jesus?

3. What actions showed her attitude towards Jesus?

4. Look up the definition of the word “ethnocentric.” How did Jesus appear to demonstrate this attitude?

5. What did the woman say that seems to cause Jesus to grant her request?

6. Why might the disciples (as fellow Jews) also have said that this woman didn’t deserve any help?

7. What kinds of needs exist in your family that someone else might think are marginal, or underserved, or outside the really important issues in God’s doings?

8. The woman’s reply suggested that all she wanted of God’s power and glory was the “crumbs left under the table.” Jesus implies that this statement was a demonstration of faith that triggered His positive response. God wants to give us more than the “crumbs” of His power. Pray together for the needs of your family, telling God that even His “left over” power is sufficient for those needs. Make sure to thank Him when He answers!
