De Boer's undergraduate research at LeTourneau has involved students in collaborative projects with NASA and private companies.

The NASA research has involved analysis of the production of carbon nanotubes.  Carbon nanotubes hold great promise for advanced materials that are strong and lightweight as well as the production of electrical circuits on a nano scale.   Below are some illustrations of carbon nanotubes.
