Matchbox Twenty is an American pop rock band from Orlando, Fla., that became one of the most popular rock bands in the late 1990s.  The band today comprises Rob Thomas (lead vocals, piano), Paul Doucette (drums, rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Kyle Cook (lead guitar, backing vocals), Brian Yale (bass guitar), and touring drummer Stacy Jones (drums).

Despite a dozen Grammy Award, MTV Video Music Award and American Music Award nominations, Matchbox Twenty has only received the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Musical Group in 2004.

The band rose to international fame with its debut album, “Yourself or Someone Like You” in 1996, which sold more than 12 million copies in the U.S. alone.  Songs featured included “Push,” “3 a.m.,” “Real World,” and “Back 2Good.”

The band’s second album, “Mad Season,” was released in 2000 and was certified 4x platinum with three singles on the Billboard 200.

It’s third album, “More Than You Think You Are,” was certified double platinum in the United States. However, it was not as successful as the previous two albums, despite its singles receiving significant airplay.

After a hiatus in 2004, the band reunited in 2010 and released its fourth album, “North,” in September 2012, debuting number one on the Billboard 200.
