LeTourneau University will feature the Christian worship band FIKE in a chapel service at 10:50 a.m. and in a free concert 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10, in the S.E. Belcher Jr. Chapel and Performance Center on the LETU campus, 2100 S. Mobberly Avenue.
FIKE is fronted by husband and wife musicians and Louisiana natives Richie and Dana Fike. The couple has been singing and writing together since the late 1990s. Following their marriage in 1999, they toured the country, often appearing with friends such as Shane & Shane.
FIKE was previously featured in Worship Leader magazine’s “Indie Spotlight” for its independently-released album Make A Sound. The magazine also featured four of the band’s songs (“Ascend to Heaven,” “Who is Like the Father,” “My Savior Lord,” “Glorious You Are”) in its Song Discovery series. The song “Ascend to Heaven” was chosen as “Song of the Year” at the Gospel Music Association’s “Music in the Rockies” event in 2008 and was included in the 2009 Dove Award-nominated choral collection by the same title.
The couple served on staff at Grace Community Church in Tyler, Texas before joining the staff at Vanguard Church in Colorado Springs, Colo., in 2002. This past February, they were signed by Integrity Music with their major label debut, “The Moment We’ve Been Waiting For,” which released in April.
