LeTourneau University Provost and Executive Vice President Dr. Philip A. Coyle will be a guest lecturer at the First International Conference of Clinical Psychology in the South Pacific Nov. 17-19 in Salinas Ecuador, South America. The conference is sponsored by the Universidad de San Francisco de Quito at Guayaquil, Ecuador.
Coyle will share his clinical expertise on healthy family functioning, narrative family therapy and role of Christian counselors with students and professionals at the conference and will learn about ministry opportunities in Ecuador.
Coyle is a licensed marriage and family therapist with a record of accomplishment in pastoral counseling, family counseling, and academic research in psychology. Coyle earned his Ph.D. in psychology and counseling from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, where he chaired the counseling and psychology department for 12 years and added new programs with significant growth in enrollment. He also holds Doctor of Education in marriage and family therapy and two master’s degrees, one in religious education and one in marriage and family therapy from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. His undergraduate degree in psychology is from Memphis State University. Coyle was also a commissioned Air Force officer, attending officer training school at Medina Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas and jet pilot school at Columbus Air Force Base in Mississippi. He and his wife, Judi, have two grown sons.
