LeTourneau University students, faculty and staff are helping students at Lucas Christian Academy of Collin County in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex compete to win $500,000 through voting for their school on Facebook.
Kohl’s department store is giving away the money to the schools with the most Facebook votes
as part of its Kohl’s Cares promotion that supports kids and education. The department store
will select 20 schools to receive a total of $10 million.
About 15 parents, staff and students from Lucas Christian Academy will be on the LETU campus
Friday morning during chapel services to encourage the LETU community to vote. One of these
parents has a son who is an engineering major at LETU.
LETU chapel services begin at 10:50 a.m. Computers are being placed in high-traffic areas,
like the Belcher Center, the Hive grill and the Corner Café to encourage LETU students to vote
throughout the day. Anyone with a Facebook account can go online and vote for Lucas Christian
Academy by going to
www.letu.edu/helplucas.
Lucas Christian Academy is the only Texas school in the Top 20 and is in the
running to win the money. Deadline for voting is Friday, Sept. 3, at midnight.
