Popular Christian rock bands DecembeRadio, Luminate and Dekree will be in concert at 7 p.m.
Thursday, Sept. 3, at LeTourneau University’s S. E. Belcher Jr. Chapel and Performance Center on
the university’s main campus, 2100 S. Mobberly. Tickets go on sale Monday, July 20.
“Artist’s Circle” tickets in the first five rows will include a pre-show “meet and greet” with the bands for $20 per ticket. Other tickets will cost $15 for the remainder of orchestra Level A seating, $12 for second orchestra Level B seating, $10 for lower balcony Level C seating and $8 for upper balcony Level D seating. DecembeRadio opened for the Newsboys this past spring. Heavily influenced by hard rock and 1970s blues-rock, the band formed in 2003 and toured for evangelist Billy Wayne Arrington before releasing two indie albums in early 2005. Their 2006 self-titled album was nominated for “Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album” at the 49th Grammy Awards, and it won the 2007 Dove Award for “Rock Album of the Year.” Their current disc is titled “Satisfied” (2008).
Luminate is a Christian rock band from Tyler, Texas, that formed in 2005 and recently signed with Sparrow Records.. They have released three independent CDs, the last of which, “Miracle” (2008), urges Christians to rise up against mediocrity in their walk with God and embrace a revolutionary relationship with Him.
Dekree, a four-member band from Hallsville, Texas, won last year’s LETU Battle of the Bands. The band sings of the simplicity of hope found in a relationship with Christ and seeks to encourage others to take a stand for Christ.
The Belcher Center seats over 2,000 and is the largest building on LeTourneau University’s 162-acre campus. Designed by Lewis, Elliott & Studer, Inc. architects of Arkansas, with assistance from the acoustical firm of BAi—Boner Associates Inc. of Austin, Texas, the Belcher Center features a full, working stage and orchestra lift, as well as prop and staging areas, dressing rooms, soundproofed rehearsal rooms, classrooms and offices. Belcher Center was built primarily as a chapel where students gather three times each week for corporate worship and spiritual instruction, but will also host educational, cultural and spiritual programs for the community.
LeTourneau University is an interdenominational Christ-centered university offering academic majors in the aeronautical sciences, business, education, engineering, the humanities and sciences.
