LeTourneau University prepares more teachers every year than any other private higher education
institution in the state of Texas, according to data taken from reports prepared by the State Board
of Education.
LeTourneau has ranked number one in the state for teacher certifications for the past five
consecutive years, graduating an average of nearly 350 teachers every year. The School of Education
accounts for approximately 16 percent of the total yearly state certifications.
“LeTourneau University's educator preparation programs place an emphasis on real-world
application,” said Wayne Jacobs, dean of the LETU School of Education. “Learning takes place in a
community of faith where personal and professional relationships are cultivated. We strive to
prepare effective, caring, and knowledgeable Christian educators for future service in public or
private schools.”
The teaching profession is driven by a desire to help others. LETU’s School of Education
offers many ways for students to accomplish this through degree programs in kinesiology, psychology
and teacher education. LETU also offers a post-baccalaureate accelerated certification for teachers
(PACT) program and a TEACH program, both specifically designed for adult learners.
LETU’s School of Education also offers a master’s degree program that consists of three
options—Teaching and Learning (certification), Curriculum and Instruction, and Educational
Administration. Courses for the master’s degrees are entirely online and the first classes began
last summer.
