LeTourneau University Announces 10 New Heritage Scholars
Tue, Mar 31 2009
LeTourneau University hosted 86 of the top high school students from
across the country and some overseas, in mid-February as they competed for 10 Heritage
Scholarships. The university’s premier scholarship fully covers tuition costs for up to
eight semesters, as long as the students maintain grade point averages of at least 3.5 and meet
scholarship requirements.
To qualify for the Heritage Scholarship
competition, these high school students were required to have scored a 1300 on the SAT or 29 on the
ACT exam and have a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.65.
The top 10 winners were determined by three
objective criteria: SAT/ACT score (10%); the team challenge project (45%); and an essay
written while on campus (45%). While the university selects only 10 winners from this
qualified group of applicants, all students who competed can receive some level of other university
scholarship funding for their academic qualifications.
