Mon, Feb 2 2009
LeTourneau University will host world-renowned
evangelist and broadcaster Dr. Billy Kim and the Korean Children’s Choir from 10:25 to 11:05 a.m.
and from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, in the S.E. Belcher Jr. Chapel and
Performance Center at 2100 S. Mobberly Ave. in Longview. The event is free and open to the
public.
Kim has preached the
gospel of Jesus Christ all over the world to thousands of people in all walks of life. His
list of accomplishments and service in the Christian community is extensive. Kim is the president
of the Far East Broadcasting Co. (FEBC), which broadcasts the gospel message to North Korea, China,
Russia and Mongolia where missionaries themselves could not go. Today FEBC-Korea broadcasts on
eight local FM stations in Korean and two high-powered AM transmitters proclaiming the gospel in
Chinese, English, Japanese and Russian.
The Children’s Choir was organized as a
ministry of the FEBC in Korea. Choir members are selected through a rigorous audition
process. The children, ranging in ages from seven to 13, receive training from a voice
teacher, choreographer and conductor. A variety of concerts are performed throughout the year
at cultural centers, theme parks, universities and many churches both in Korea and the United
States. Cheerful adaptations, warm smiles and thorough professionalism characterize the
performances. Colorful costumes and traditional Korean dance add to the excitement and
pageantry of the concerts.
