LETU MBA Students Tie for First Place in Global Simulation Competition
Fri, Jan 16 2009
LeTourneau University ’s MBA students aren’t just learning about
business strategy from lectures and PowerPoint presentations these days. Jason Albright and
Brant Cordeiro tied for first place among 168 teams in the BSG Championship, a business strategy
game simulation in which the working adult students run a virtual athletic shoe company.
The competition requires students to work together in teams to
exercise their business acumen. Their companies are ranked based on earnings per share, return on
investment, stock price appreciation, and credit rating.
Initially, the teams compete not only against one another within the
classroom, but against more than 300 schools and 1,000 students nationally. The best and
brightest qualify to compete globally. It is on the global stage that Albright and Cordeiro
tied for first among 103 schools in 15 countries.
Albright and Cordeiro are students in Dr. Scott Ray’s Strategic
Management course. Because of their achievements, Ray received the Master Professor Award
from BSG.
