ASC Honors three LETU student-athletes

Three LeTourneau University student-athletes were named to the American Southwest Conference’s Scholar-Athlete Teams.  They are Abigail Hews of Clive, Iowa;  Meredith Bowman of Magnolia, Texas; and Daniel Iya of  Jos, Nigeria.
            Hews is a senior member of the YellowJacket Volleyball team.  During her time at LETU she has compiled a 3.88 grade point average in Elementary Education.  Not only has she excelled in the classroom, she is one of the most prolific players in LeTourneau history.  She holds the record for most assists in a career (3,454) and ranks in the top-10 in three other major categories. 
Bowman is a junior carrying a 3.45 grade point average in Education.  She is a two-time  captain of the women’s soccer team and displays overall leadership qualities as she encourages her teammates to play better.  Last season she was named 2 nd-Team All-ASC. 
Iya is a senior who is set to graduate with degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Design Technology.    He also was named ASC 2 nd-Team last season and 3 rd-Team ASC in 2006-07.  Possibly his greatest feat on the field is that he owns 8 game-winning goals.
