LETU President to Serve on ICUT Board

LeTourneau University President Dr. Dale A. Lunsford was named to
the board of directors for the Independent Colleges and Universities of Texas to serve a two-year
term through 2010.
ICUT is a nonprofit organization of 40 accredited private
universities in Texas which helps legislative policymakers understand the importance and value of
independent institutions of higher education. ICUT promotes increased funding for student
financial aid programs, like the Texas Equalization Grant program. It also supports legislation
that preserves the tax-exempt status of private colleges and universities.
ICUT institutions educate nearly 114,500 students across the state
at universities offering a wide range of educational programs. Private schools provide a
healthy source of competition for students, faculty and research grants which strengthens higher
education in Texas. ICUT schools employ more than 22,700 across the state and spend an
estimated $2.4 billion in their local communities to provide education.
