LeTourneau University has named Mike Hood as the vice president for Financial Affairs,
effective immediately. Hood served the university for the past five years as controller,
overseeing student accounts, accounts payable, accounting, audit and payroll.
During the past year, Hood also assumed responsibility for the university’s $47 million
budget.
In his new role, Hood will oversee human resources and business services.
“Mike Hood is a man of competence and courtesy who loves the Lord and his family and is
committed to God’s work at LeTourneau University,” said Bill McDowell, executive vice president for
Business and Administration. “His appointment will bring a new dimension to the Division of
Business and Administration and allow me the latitude to focus on opportunities that await us in
the year to come.”
Hood received his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Kansas State University in
December of 1985. In August of 1992, he earned his Masters in Business Administration from Wichita
State University.
Before coming to LeTourneau University, Hood worked as a staff accountant for KPMG from 1986
to 1988 and as a controller for Breckco Construction Company, Inc. from 1988 to 1990. Hood then
became the manager of accounting for Africa Inland Mission until 1992 when he joined Hannibal
LaGrange College as an assistant professor of accounting. Hood served as the finance manager and
Director of Administration/CFO for Pioneers, Inc. from 1997 until joining LETU in 2003.
