LETU To Host NIFA Regionals In October

LeTourneau University will host the National Intercollegiate Flying Association (NIFA) Region 4 Safety and Flight Evaluation Conference (SAFECON) October 19-24, 2008. Schools compete from Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi in regional competition. Local businesses will have the opportunity to sponsor individual flying and ground events during the week.

“Each team generally sends about 10 to 15 students to these competitions, plus we will bring in about 20 judges, so the total will be over 100 people we are bringing into the Longview area, and that should have a positive economic impact,” said Brad Wooden, NIFA team faculty adviser.

The top two teams from October’s regional competition at LETU will qualify to compete nationally May 17-23, 2009 at Parks College of St. Louis University in Cahokia, Ill.
